Description
The ESX.4ct is a small, fully programmable controller that incorporates the latest processor and I/O technologies. Its flexibility and compact size make it ideal for automating small machines and attachments, but it can also be used as a controller for special tasks in more complex systems.
The ESX.4ct can be connected to other components with up to 3 CAN (CAN FD) interfaces. It provides a total of 36 inputs/outputs, which can be distributed according to the configuration. In addition to inputs that can be configured for a wide range of functions and 2A and 4A high-side outputs, its 4A half-bridge outputs can also be used to control PVG valves. Optional features such as a 6-axis accelerometer and gyroscope or a Bluetooth module with internal antenna can also be integrated into the hardware to meet market requirements. With protection ratings up to IP6K7, the controller is suitable for use in the harshest conditions in mobile machinery. With the TC367 processor, future-oriented systems can also be equipped with cybersecurity features.
Software
The application software for the ESX.4ct can be easily developed with the open and freely available open source software suite openSYDE from STW. It offers the possibility to map and test functionalities in “C”, Matlab Simulink and according to IEC61131 (Neuron Power Engineer) in structured text (ST).
Systems already in the field can also be configured, managed and updated using openSYDE. With the numerous pre-installed widgets in openSYDE, data pools available via CAN can easily be displayed graphically and clearly and used in HMIs or cloud solutions. Numerous convenience functions such as current controllers and ramp functions for outputs or frequency averaging for inputs are already integrated. Additional libraries such as CANopen, J1939 or ISOBUS simplify system integration.
The 4th generation controller’s standardized software API makes it easy to transfer parts to and from larger sister controllers.
